Gary and Jackie Joliffe’s Golden Touch Thoroughbred Services will offer a small but select consignment at this month’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Proven breeders of G1 performers, Golden Touch’s 2016 offering include yearlings by some of South Africa’s most exciting and popular stallions.
Irish Champion 2YO Colt and G1 National Stakes winner Pathfork has made a pleasing start to his stud career. Very popular at last year’s sales, Pathfork’s very first 2yo runner On The Right Path was second at just her second appearance and she should win soon. A superbly bred son of champion US sire and proven sire of sires Distorted Humor, Pathfork’s relatives include champion sires El Gran Senor, Northern Guest and the mighty Redoute’s Choice.
Pathfork is the sire of lot 47, a colt named Road To Paris. Like devastating recent winner Intriguing Lady he is inbred to the mighty Sadler’s Wells. A half brother to the smart Night In Seattle, this colt is out of a winning daughter of champion and successful sire In The Wings and from the family of French 1000 Guineas winner Baiser Vole.
Avontuur’s world class young sire Oratorio has made waves all around the world, with his 40 plus stakes winners including seven G1 winners including Horse Of The Year Military Attack and 2015 G1 Underwood Stakes hero Mourinho. Also the sire of promising young sire Fencing Master, Oratorio’s offspring have earned more than $47 million in stakes.
A triple G1 winner, Oratorio is also the sire of lot 61 –a colt by the name of Sacred Touch.
This well bred colt (bred on the remarkably successful Danehill/Sadler’s Wells cross) is a half brother to two winners including talented stakes winning filly Sunset Tripp. His dam Red Growler is a daughter of champion sire (and current leading broodmare sire) Fort Wood and J&B Met winner Imperious Sue, and is a full sister to stakes winner Blue Heather and a half sister to G1 Woolavington Stakes winner Imperious Star.
Another by Danehill’s champion son (a twice leading sire in Italy) is lot 69, a bay colt named Sacred Rain.
This well bred colt is out of a winning Spectrum half sister to Equus Champion and G2 Godolphin Mile winner Soft Falling Rain, who has recently completed a successful first season at Wilgerbosdrift. This colt (like Soft Falling a direct descendant of Danzig) is from a great female line which includes Kentucky Oaks winner Gal In A Ruckus and multiple US G1 winner Habibti.
The sole filly in the Golden Touch consignment is lot 122, a bay called Sacred Gold. She is a half sister to three winners including Tamberlaine’s G2 Sceptre Stakes winner Reflective Image. Sacred Gold’s dam is the talented mare Velvet’s Image, a stakes placed winner of four.
Oratorio is a top class sire of fillies, with his daughters including such top class graded winners as champion Banchee, G1 winner Temida, dual Italian classic winner Cherry Collect and group winners Estentepe, Lolly For Dolly, and Viztoria.
