Greys Inn relative fancied for Blue Diamond

This Saturday sees the running of one of the world’s premier 2yo races, the Aus$1 500 000 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.
This G1 contest, set to be run at Caulfield over 1200m this weekend, has drawn together a field of 17 runners (16 final acceptors and an emergency runner in the form of Sheer Madness).

Betting for Saturday’s Blue Diamond (a race won previously by such top performers and sires as Redoute’s Choice, Manikato, Bounding Away and Sepoy) is headed by talented Fastnet Rock filly Catchy.

But interestingly enough, one of the leading fancies for the Blue Diamond is G3 Canonbury Stakes winner Pariah –a relative of Rosedene Stud’s successful resident stallion Greys Inn. A son of former Blue Diamond winner Redoute’s Choice, Pariah won the Canonbury Stakes on debut before finishing second, on his only other outing, in the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude Stakes.

Greys Inn, whose other notable relatives include former G1 Blue Diamond winner and top class sire Zeditave, is from a bang in form family, whose other high class recent representatives include G3 Triscay Stakes winner Zestful (like Pariah, by Redoute’s Choice).

Greys Inn, Pariah and Zestful are all descended from the Crowned Prince mare Summoned –also ancestress of such high class G1 winners as Melito, Norzita, and former Equus Champion Smart Call.

Sire of reigning South African Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle, Greys Inn has a single lot on offer at the upcoming March Yearling Sale –a colt out of a four time winning daughter of emerging broodmare sire Windrush (Lot 114).
The former Vodacom Durban July winning Equus Champion also has nine yearlings on offer at the March Yearling Sale, with his draft including a filly from the family of top international performers Colonial Affair, Declaration Of War and Union Rags (Lot 12), a colt out of a daughter of classic winner Sweet Secret from the family of G1 winning sire Gitano Hernando (Lot 26), a filly bred like Greys Inn Dubai star Forries Waltz (Lot 41) and a colt out of a half-sister to G1 winning sprinter and sire Tobe Or Nottobe (Lot 66).
