Greys Inn relative popular at Tattersalls

A filly from the same family as successful sire Greys Inn proved popular at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
A daughter of champion sire Galileo, the filly was knocked down to Australian stud Emirates Park for 500 000 guineas.

The blue blooded miss is out of G1TJ Smith Stakes winner Melito (by Redoute’s Choice), who won five times including the G1 Winter Stakes and earned the equivalent of more than £1.7 million in prize money.
Melito is already the dam of useful Japanese four timer winner Campbell Junior (by Encosta De Lago).

Emirates Park General Manager Bryan Carlson was at Newmarket to select and secure the filly and was interviewed by Thoroughbred Daily News.

“She’ll go to the breakers in the next week or so and we’ll decide [on a trainer] from there, but she’ll stay here in the UK,” Carlson said.

“The boss, Nasser Lootah, is looking to have a few to breed and race here in the UK. He’s from Dubai and a lot of his friends race here.

“She’s got that broodmare potential and if we want to take her down to Australia we can, when she’s finished racing. She’s a lovely filly and I think she’ll suit both hemispheres in the long run. Galileo is doing so well up here, so it just fitted with what the boss wanted.”

Melito’s third dam is the great broodmare Summoned –whose five Group winners including outstanding sprinter and top class sire Zeditave.
