Hemel ‘n Aarde offer four at CPYS

The Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud are proud to offer four yearlings at this weekend’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, which takes place at the CTICC on January 21st and 22nd.

Lot 33

Lot 33

First of the Hemel ‘n Aarde draft to come into the ring is lot 33, a colt from the first crop of Jet Master’s multiple G1 winning son Pomodoro. The latter, who is out of Broodmare Of The Year Golden Apple, was a remarkably versatile racehorse who won from 1160-2450m and who earned well over R3 000 000. The colt on offer is a half brother to 3 winners, one of whom won four, and his second dam was a 20 time stakes winner in North America.

Former European Champion Twice Over (whose first 2yo runners this season include feature race bound filly Lacerta) was a superb athlete, whose 12 wins include four at G1 level. He is the sire of lot 71 –a half brother to a winner. A colt described as “very racy”, this chestnut is out of the smart racemare Gilmore Girl (who shares her sire Roi Normand with US champion Riboletta).

His second dam was a G1 winner, while the chestnut colt’s third dam was former Brazilian champion Asola.

Hemel ‘N Aarde are pleased to be able to offer the only yearling by US champion and outstanding sire Bernardini for sale at the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale. Bernardini, himself a son of the great stallion A P Indy, is the sire of more than 50 stakes winners (including US classic hope Hemsworth) and his runners have banked over $53 million in stakes. His G1 winners included Boban, Cavorting, Dame Dorothy, Rachel’s Valentina and promising young sires Alpha, Stay Thirsty and To Honor And Serve.

This colt is a half brother to a winner, and is out of a five time winning daughter of champion Australian sire Flying Spur. This is the same family as top sprinter and sire Zeditave, as well as South African champions Smart Call and Greys Inn –with the latter the sire of reigning Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle among others.

Final lot in the draft is lot 199, a daughter of dual G1 winning speedball Warm White Night, already sire of high class filly Harlem Shake. This filly (closely inbred to triple champion sire Western Winter) is out of a winning Western Winter daughter of a full sister to Equus Champion and dual G1 winner Young Rake.
