Hidden Reserve’s growing legacy

Drakenstein Stud’s resident sire Philanthropist is out of a truly top class broodmare in the form of Hidden Reserve.
A daughter of nine times champion US broodmare sire Mr Prospector, Hidden Reserve’s winners include 2014 Gr3 Canadian Turf Handicap hero Reload (by Hard Spun), who recently picked up his seventh win when landing an allowance optional claiming race over 1600m at Belmont Park on Saturday.

It was a smart win by Reload, who pulled clear under Jose Ortiz to beat high class stakes performers Fredericksburg and Notacatbutallama by a length and a quarter and a nose respectively.
Owned by the Phipps Stable, Reload has now amassed earnings of more than $450 000 and he looks destined for more stakes success.

Reload is one of three stakes winners produced by G2 Demoiselle Stakes runner up Hidden Reserve, who is also the dam of G3 Queens County Hcp winner and champion sire Philanthropist (by Kris S), as well as high class 2yo Defer (by Danzig), whose wins included the G3 Laurel Futurity. Hidden Reserve is also the second dam of ill-fated G1 Blue Grass Stakes runner up Danzig Moon (by Malibu Moon).

An own sister to G1 Top Flight Hcp winner and millionaire Educated Risk and half sister to US Champion and Hall Of Fame member Inside Information, Hidden Reserve has an Arch colt at foot (a three parts brother to Philanthropist) and was bred back to Hard Spun in 2015. This is the same family as former leading SA sire National Assembly and US Champion Sire What A Pleasure.

Her big chestnut son Philanthropist is enjoying another sensational season with his runners in North America and currently ranks as the second Leading Synthetics Sire for 2015.

Sire of champions Pender Harbour and Phil’s Dream in his first small crop, Philanthropist’s first South African crop race this season. He has five lots on offer at Sunday’s CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale, including a filly out of a daughter of National Assembly and G3 winner Grey Angel (Lot 19), a colt from the family of Irish 2000 Guineas winner Fourstars Allstar (Lot 32) and a filly out of star filly Easyjadeasy –herself a half sister to champion and hot young sire Elusive Fort (Lot 62).
