Drakenstein Stud’s red hot sire Duke Of Marmalade is enjoying a superb season with his daughters this year.
Not only is the “Duke” sire of leading Investec Oaks fancy Star Of Seville and brilliant classic winner Sound Of Freedom, but he has yet another highly regarded British based daughter in the form of Pamona.
Trainer Luca Cumani had the following to say of the talented Pamona, who ran an unlucky third in the recent Listed Haras De Bouquetot Fillies Stakes to leading Oaks hope Crystal Zvezda.
“She did very well although was very unlucky in the Newbury Oaks Trial. She was hemmed in until about a furlong out and made a lot of progress in the final furlong. We decided, along with Highclere, that she will go for the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.”
Pamona had shown smart form at two, and ended her two race campaign with a facile maiden score over 1400m at Newmarket.
Clearly, Duke Of Marmalade has a lot to look forward this season with his three-year-old daughters also including the up-and-coming French filly Zaridiya, a close second in the recent Listed Prix Lilas.
