Highlands Farm Stud’s resident sire Antonius Pius looks to have a top class filly on his hands in the form of brilliant two-year-old Kissable.
The latter made it two wins from as many outings when she romped home to a seven and a half length win at Turffontein on Saturday.
Kissable, a R120 000 buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale, was bred by Moutonshoek and is out of former G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship runner up Kiss For Kate. She has now won both starts by an aggregate of nearly 14 lengths, and the Paul Matchett trained filly will now target some of the 2yo feature races of the Gauteng Autumn Season.
Her sire Antonius Pius, runner up in the 2004 G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, is a proven sire of high class stakes performers, who was South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2012-2013.
The son of Danzig’s top performers include ill-fated G3 Langerman winner Antonius Du Bois, champion filly Yoshie, G3 Tony Ruffel hero Belong To Me, G2 winning filly My Sanctuary and dual Listed Aquanaut Handicap hero Cool Chardonnay.
Antonius Pius is also responsible for R850 000 plus earner Ace Antonius –winner of the KZN Yearling Sale Million and runner up in the G2 Umkhomazi Stakes.
By the same sire as sire legends Danehill, Green Desert and War Front, Antonius Pius is out of unbeaten G1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Catchascatchcan and is from the same family as Averof, sire of former champion sire Foveros.
