Daughters of Drakenstein Stud’s late, great Horse Chestnut continue to make their presence felt in major graded races.
The latest Horse Chestnut daughter with a graded winner to her credit is Flashdance Missy, whose talented son Ivan Fallunovalot (Valid Expectations) took the G3 (formerly G1) Frank J.De Francis Memorial Dash on Saturday.
Ivan Fallunovalot made it four wins on the bounce when triumphing in Saturday’s $250 000 race by four and a half lengths from Rockinn On Bye (Rock Hard Ten) and top sprinter X Y Jet (Kantharos).
The six-year-old gelding, now a 15 time winner from 24 outings, has now amassed over $800 000 in stakes –with the De Francis Dash being his first graded success.
He had been slated to line up in the recent G1 TwinSpires Breeders’ Cup Sprint, but had to miss that race due to chronic hoof issues.
Horse Chestnut’s daughters have already produced a growing number stakes winners to their credit, including last season’s G1 J&B Met winner and Equus Champion Smart Call (Ideal World).
He is also broodmare sire of 2016 US G3 winner Zipessa (City Zip) –who was second, beaten under a length, in the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes.
Other notable performers out of mares by Fort Wood’s great son include G1 Suggestive Boy (G1 Frank E Kilroe Mile), Cannock Chase (G1 Canadian International), Pisco Sour (G2 Prix Eugene Adam), Ol’ Fashion Gal (G3 Jimmy Durante S), and Ocho Ocho Ocho (G3 Delta Downs Jackpot).
