A half sister to Mauritzfontein Stud’s exciting sire Ideal World proved the star attraction on Wednesday, the third day of trading at the 2016 Tattersalls December Mare Sale.
Replete, a daughter of 2000 Guineas winner Makfi and champion Banks Hill, was knocked down to Amanda Skiffington for 775 000 guineas.
“She was absolutely the best horse of the day,” said Skiffington. “It’s a fantastic family and I thought she was a beauty.”
The unraced three-year-old, who sold as a horse out of training, is a half sister not only to Ideal World but also to G1 Prix Jean Romanet winner and G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf runner up Romantica (Galileo).
Replete’s dam is former G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf champion Banks Hill –a full sister to champion sire Dansili, and to G1 winners Cacique, Champs Elysees and Intercontinental, and half sister to G1 winner Heat Haze.
This is also the family of G1 winner Promising Lead, US champion Leroidesaniamux (sire of G1 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom), Horse Of The Year and champion sire Giant’s Causeway, and G1 2000 Guineas winner Gleneagles.
Replete is only the second granddaughter of the mighty Hasili ever to be offered at auction.
Her half brother Ideal World, runner up to G1 Prix du Jockey Club winner Vision D’Etat (Chichicastenango) in the 2008 G2 Prix Niel, has made an exceptional start to his stud career, with his first crop producing G1 J&B Met winner and Equus Champion Smart Call, and his second G1 filly Persian Rug and Derby hero Cape Speed.
