Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting new sire Flower Alley is the sire of former US champion I’ll Have Another, who currently rates as among the most exciting young sires in Japan.
I’ll Have Another, whose five career wins included both the 2012 G1 Kentucky Derby and G1 Preakness Stakes, is the sire of Un Autre, who made a winning debut at Tokyo racecourse on June 25th.
Un Autre, who hails from his sire’s first crop of 2yos, scored a 1.75 length debut win over 1600m and he looks most promising.
His sire Flower Alley, North America’s Champion 3YO Colt of 2012, was sold to Japan (for $10 000 000) for stud duty and he has over 100 first crop two-year-olds to his name this season.
Out of the Arch mare Aunt Edith’s Gal, I’ll Have Another won five of seven outings, with his other notable victories including the G1 Santa Anita Derby. He was scratched before an attempted Triple Crown bid in the 2012 G1 Belmont Stakes due to a leg injury and was subsequently retired and sold to Japan.
His sire, Flower Alley, has been in the news in 2016 thanks to another top class champion son in Lukes Alley. The latter, Canada’s Champion Older Male in 2014, scored an impressive win in the G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap earlier this year and Lukes Alley has earned over $750 000 in stakes to date.
To date, the progeny of Flower Alley have earned over R220 000 000 –and counting!
