Highlands Farms Stud’s exciting sire Pathfork was represented by a most impressive feature race winner on Friday when his 2yo daughter Precious Pansy made a winning debut to land the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery over 1200m.
Bred by the Riyo Stud, Precious Pansy ran on too strongly for 15 more experienced rivals and won going away by a length and a quarter.
Precious Pansy, a R120 000 buy from the 2016 National 2YO Sale, is out of the Point Given mare Right Call.
She is yet another high class juvenile performer sired by former champion 2yo Pathfork, whose 2yo daughter Holly’s Vision recently made an eye catching winning debut over 1000m at Greyville recently.
From the same family as sire greats El Gran Senor and Redoute’s Choice, Pathfork’s immediate family recently got another G1 boost when his close relative Lizzie L’Amour won the G1 Bonecrusher New Zealand Stakes.
Pathfork is well represented on both the Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale and the National Yearling Sale.
The son of US champion sire Distorted Humor has five lots on the Select Sale, with his draft including a filly from the same family as champions Celtic Grove and Marinaresco (Lot 8), a half-sister to a G3 winner out of a stakes placed daughter of champion sire Thunder Gulch (Lot 111), and a filly out of a six times stakes winning daughter of the late, great Danehill Dancer (Lot 126).
Pathfork, whose first crop included the brilliant Red Chesnut Road, has eight lots on the National Yearling Sale. They include a half-brother to Derby placed Three Balloons from the family of French G1 winners Hernando and Johan Quatz (Lot 187), a colt out of a four time winning three parts sister to multiple stakes winner Adobe Pink (Lot 241), and a colt out of G3 Yellowwood Handicap winner Arch Mistress (Lot 289).
