Impressive debut winner for Argonaut
Former Equus Champion 2YO, Argonaut, is the sire of impressive recent debut winner, Leodocus.
The 3yo colt bolted up first time up by 2.75 lengths at the Vaal on Saturday, and looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
Leodocus, who is out of the Royal Academy mare Helenaki, was a R170 000 buy at the 2012 Emperors Palace National 2yo Sale.
The colt, who was bred by Messrs McNabb and Miliotis, is from the same family as top-class Australian 2yo Helene Pillaging, winner of 9 races including the G1 VRC Sires Produce Stakes.
Argonaut, whose first crop are now 3yos, has now been represented by eight first crop winners. They include the highly rated Copybook, as well as the debut winners Yeoville and Leodocus, as well as the talented Zimbabwean performer, Ernie Or Else.
The Equus Champion 2YO Colt of 2007, Argonaut (Western Winter – Aquasarto) stands at the Cheveley Stud for a 2013 fee of R12 000.
