Drakenstein Stud’s leading sire Trippi had a good looking debut winner at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon, when his three-year-old daughter Shatoosh made a smart winning debut when scoring over 1200m and she looks a nice sort in the making.
Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Shatoosh is out of the London News mare Mink Coat.
Currently South Africa’s leading sire by prize money, Trippi has had a sensational season during 2015-2016, with his runners having amassed more than R9.5 million this season. Trippi, whose son Illuminator won the recent inaugural CTS Million Dollar, has been represented by seven individual stakes winners this season, highlighted by G1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes winner Inara, G1 Sansui Summer Cup runner up Deo Juvente and top class sprinters Trip To Heaven and Triptique. Trip To Heaven lines up in Saturday’s G2 Hawaii Stakes where he will bid to provide his sire with yet another major feature race win.
The son of End Sweep will be represented on both next month’s March Yearling Sale and April’s National Yearling Sale.
Trippi’s sole lot on offer at the March Sale is a filly whose winning dam, from the family of current 3yo star Abashiri, is a three parts sister to former Horse Of The Year and four time G1 winner Yard-Arm (Lot 64).
His nine strong draft at the National Sale includes a colt out of Jet Master’s G2 winning daughter Hawker Hunter (Lot 129), a full brother to triple G1 winner Inara (Lot 224), a colt out of Fort Wood’s classic winning daughter Rememberance (Lot 286), and a full sister to G1 SA Nursery runner up Ziparana (Lot 427).
