Impressive double for champion

Klawervlei’s inform sire Jay Peg, who has been enjoying another great season, had a smart looking double at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

The former Equus Champion’s pair of winners kicked off when his regally bred son Mega Secret was victorious in the afternoon’s third race.
Trained by Patrick Kruyer, Mega Secret was rated good enough to line up in the G1 Investec Cape Derby, and he proved far too strong for his opponents in Tuesday’s 1600m contest.

Mega Secret, who races for Messrs Freestone, Millard, Miller and Nelson, simply romped home to win by two lengths and he looks capable of building on this success.

Jay Peg’s second mid-week winner came in the form of another talented feature race contender-Silicone Valley.
That highly rated gelding, whose career has been interrupted by a number of setbacks, picked up the fourth win of his career when landing a MR 95 handicap over 1600m in emphatic style.
Bred by Klawervlei, and runner up in the 2015 Listed Cape Premier SalesJet Master Stakes, Silicone Valley (who has won or placed in seven of his ten outings), is owned by Messrs Bester, Carruthers, Fourie, Martin and Robinson.

Former globetrotting superstar Jay Peg, a four time G1 winner in three different countries, has enjoyed another superb season with his top performers including G3 Jacaranda Handicap winner Peggy Jay, G1 filly She’s A Dragon, Listed KZN Guineas Trial hero Exit Here and R2.7 million earner Victorious Jay.
