Highlands Farms’ resident sire Dynasty was the toast of Kenilworth racecourse on Tuesday where the former Horse Of The Year was represented by a pair of impressive looking three-year-old winners.
Dynasty’s first winner on the eight race card was the Maine Chance Farms bred colt Horizon –who had previously set a new South African record when knocked down to Piet Du Toit and Kuda Insurance for R5.2 million at the 2015 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Horizon impressed all with his two and a half length romp over 9-10 favourite Crompton Court (also by Dynasty!), at just the second time of asking, and this beautifully bred colt (his dam is a full sister to Maine Chance’s champion sire Silvano) looks a horse with a bright future ahead of him.
Dynasty also looks to have a really nice filly on his hands in the form of the Mayfair Speculator owned Just Sensual.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud (who were represented by no fewer than five winners on Tuesday) Just Sensual made it two wins from just three outings with a facile, 3.5 length romp over older rivals and this lightly raced filly looks a filly of potential feature race ability. The blue blooded Just Sensual (she is out of former champion 2yo Consensual (Camden Park)) was a R2 000 000 purchase from the 2015 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Horizon and Consensual are just two of the promising three-year-olds representing Dynasty this year.
Others include undefeated African Night Sky (whose connections are planning to aim him at the G2 Selangor Cup and the $500 000 CTS sponsored race on Met day), and the beautifully bred Miss Minver.
The former July winning Dynasty has four on sale at the upcoming CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale:
Lot 106- out of a winning Jet Master half sister to G3 Matchem hero Joshua’s Dream, this colt’s second dam is by Jallad (damsire of Dynasty’s top performers It’s My Turn, Solid Speed and Run For It) and this is the family of the classic winning siblings Captain’s Lover and Ebony Flyer (by Jet Master)
Lot 127 – a half sister to 3 winners, this filly is bred on the highly successful Dynasty/Jallad cross –also responsible for G3 Jubilee Handicap hero Liege. Out of a full sister to a G3 performer and half sister to G2 winner Dash For Gretna (now at stud in Australia) this is the family of champions Jay Peg and Kochka
Lot 195 – a full sister to a winner, this filly is out of a mare who won three and this is the immediate family of G2 Colorado King Stakes winner Captain’s Wild, as well as champions and top sires Diesis and Kris –who between them sired five Epsom Oaks winners. Also the family of Dynasty’s smart debut winner Eternal Spring
Lot 214 –a full sister to undefeated 3yo African Night Sky (and bred on the same cross as Dynasty’s triple G1 winner Jackson), this regally bred filly is out of a stakes winning daughter of former US champion sire Cozzene and second dam is a stakes winning daughter of the truly great sire and broodmare sire Kingmambo
