Impressive first winner for Meteor Shower
Hemel ‘N Aarde’s well bred stallion, Meteor Showed, was represented by his first winner at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.
His 3yo daughter, Power To Succeed, scored an eye catching winning debut over 1000m for trainer Dominic Zaki.  Backed into start a hot, 11-10 favourite, Power To Succeed was always travelling nicely, and ran on nicely to score a one length win over more experienced rival, Arawin.
Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde, Power To Succeed is out of the unraced Tara’s Halls mare, Tara’s Destiny and is a half-sister to classy sprinter, Deliver The Power.

Power To Succeed is from the first, five horse strong crop of her sire, Meteor Shower.
The latter is an impeccably bred son of Danehill, whose seven wins included a score in the Gr3 Chairman’s Cup, where Meteor Shower beat the likes of stakes winners Thundering Jet, Sudden Storm, Bill Of Rights, Captain Cook and Gr1 Gold Cup hero Mokaro.

Meteor Shower is one of 347 stakes winners for the legendary stallion Danehill, whose sire sons also include champion stallions Danehill Dancer, Redoute’s Choice, Dansili, Flying Spur and Oratorio.

Out of the Ogygian mare Teslemi, Meteor Shower is a full-brother to two Group One winners – Spartacus (Phoenix Stakes) and Johan Cruyff (Hong Kong Derby). The latter, in turn, is the sire of G1 winner Estejo (Premio Roma), and classy filly Johan’s Toy.

His broodmare sire, Ogygian, is also the damsire of Champion 2YO and successful sire Johannesburg (himself sire of US sensation Scat Daddy).

Meteor Shower’s second dam is a full-sister to Champion US filly, De La Rose.
