Impressive juvenile winner for Black Minnaloushe

Maine Chance Farms’ well established sire Black Minnaloushe had a smart debut winner at Turffontein yesterday.
The son of Storm Cat (whose descendants have dominated proceedings at Royal Ascot this week thus far) is the sire of 2yo Lotus Elan who won first time out over 1160m on Thursday.

Trained by Corne Spies, the Maine Chance Farms bred Lotus Elan ran on smartly to make a winning debut in open company, and this colt looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

Lotus Elan, who is out of the two time winning Silvano mare Lily Lei, was a R700 000 buy at last year’s National Yearling Sale.

Black Minnaloushe is certainly no stranger to siring high class juveniles –having sired such juvenile champions as Hollinger, Jokers Wild and Kochka previously, as well as G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes hero Gold Onyx.

The blue blooded former Irish 2000 Guineas winner (whose Triple Crown winning son Louis The King stands his first season at stud this year) has five lots on offer at the upcoming Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale:
