Ascot Stud’s promising young sire Bold Silvano lost no time in getting off the mark with his 2yos this season when his daughter Pure Fiction made a winning debut on Friday.
In landing a maiden juvenile plate for fillies over 800m at Fairview, Pure Fiction beat another Bold Silvano daughter, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, into third –and both fillies look promising. Bred by Ascot Stud, Pure Fiction was backed into 22-10 and duly arrived to post a one and a quarter length win over fellow first-timer Marinella.
The Yvette Bremner trained Pure Fiction was a bargain R80 000 buy from this year’s National Yearling Sale.
Her sire Bold Silvano has made a promising start to his stud career, with his first crop having already included 11 winners, notably high class G3 performer Bold Rex, debut winner Besotted, and the very talented Boldly Respectable.
One of the very best sons of champion sire Silvano, Bold Silvano won seven times from 1100 to 2200m and earned over Dhs 1 683 762 in prize money.
South Africa’s Equus Champion Middle Distance Horse of 2010, Bold Silvano scored the signature win of his career when defeating an outstanding field (including Horse Of The Years Irish Flame and Pocket Power) to land the 2010 G1 Vodacom Durban July.
He also defeated the outstanding international G1 winners Al Shemali, Crowded House and Gitano Hernando to win the 2011 G3 Maktoum Challenge (Round 2).
