Impressive winner for Philanthropist

Drakenstein Stud’s well bred and successful sire Philanthropist has made the perfect start to his stud career in South Africa.
The strapping son of Kris S had his third winner from his first South African crop (now two) when his daughter Sail waltzed away to win by 4.75 lengths over 1200m at Scottsville’s midweek meeting.

Bred and owned by the Drakenstein Stud, Sail (who looks well above average) had previously finished second on debut and was dispatched a red hot 1-3 favourite for Wednesday’s contest.

Philanthropist’s previous juvenile scorers include debut winner Good To Give and Sunday winner Flash Fire, while his daughter, She’s A Giver, ran a cracker when second on debut and she looks a winner in waiting.

By the same sire as top class US sire and broodmare sire Arch, Philanthropist is one of three graded winners for his dam Hidden Reserve –a Mr Prospector full sister to the multiple Grade One winning millionaire Educated Risk.

A former leading sire in North America, Philanthropist’s small first crop produced the champions Pender Harbour and Phil’s Dream, and he looks an exciting asset to the South African stallion band.
