Indy sire line oh so hot!
A P Indy, sire of Moutonshoek’s exciting new sire Marchfield, hot young sire Judpot, and the grandsire of one of SA’s top first crop sires Jay Peg, thoroughly dominated the North American classic races this weekend.
He is the grandsire of 2013 Kentucky Oaks winner Princess of Sylmar – and three of the ten fillies competing in this weekend’s Oaks were either by A P Indy or one of his sons.
A P, also a half-brother to successful local sire Tiger Ridge, is also sire of Malibu Moon. The latter sired 2013 Kentucky Derby winner Orb, who will be aimed at the final two legs of the US Triple Crown -the Preakness and Belmont Stakes respectively.
Third colt home in the Derby was Revolutionary – whose dam is by A P Indy. In fact, three of the first four in the 2013 Kentucky Derby (North America’s most famous race) have A P Indy blood coursing through their veins!
A dual champion sire in North America (2003 and 2006), A P Indy was named a Chefs de Race in 2008.
