International glory for Over family

The family of Klawervlei’s exciting young stallion Twice Over has well and truly been in the limelight of late, and two top class members of this superb family picked up major stakes victories this past weekend.

Top class performer Time Test picked up the fourth Group win of his career when victorious in Saturday’s G2 Sky Bet York Stakes at York. Coming off a third place finish in the G1 Coral-Eclipse, Time Test dug down deep to win the Group 2 contest by three parts of a length over G1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile hero Mondialiste, with another 3.25 lengths back to third place finisher Countermeasure.

The Roger Charlton trained colt is likely to be aimed at the G1 Juddmonte International (a race won by his close relative Twice Over in 2011.

Now a winner of six of just 11 outings, Time Test is out of G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage Of Time, who shares her second dam Quandary with Twice Over.

Another from this top class family to land a British stakes race this weekend is Convey. Thought of as a Guineas prospect early on, Convey waltzed to victory in Sunday’s Listed Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Festival Pomfret Stakes.

A son of Dansili (damsire of Time Test), Convey (who was picking up the first stakes win of his career) is out of the Mr Prospector mare Insinuate-whose dam is G1 Prix Du Moulin winner All At Sea. The latter’s dam Lost Virtue is also the third dam of four time Group 1 winner Twice Over, whose first crop are set to race in 2016-2017.

Twice Over (whose first crop sold up to R1 000 000 this year) has a single lot on offer at the 2016 CTS August Two-Year-Old Sale. This is a filly out of a five time winning half sister to G2 winner Blake, and this is the family of local sprint champion Laisserfaire and outstanding sire Centaine. Another top class member of this family is current local star and G2 Golden Horseshoe winner Zodiac Ruler (Lot 55).

The former European champion also has four first crop two-year-olds on sale at the National Two Year Old Sale, and they include a colt whose dam is a half sister to July runner up Superwood (Lot 47), a filly out of a three parts sister to champions Enchantress and National Currency (Lot 56), a filly out of a G3 daughter of the great broodmare sire Elliodor (Lot 173), and a half brother to 3 stakes horses, whose dam is G3 winner Fire Tread (Lot 256).
