Irish Guineas star’s tie to SA broodmare
The Avontuur based broodmare Paradise Beach, currently in foal to the sensational sire Var, must be considered one of the best bred mares in South Africa at the moment.
The daughter of former champion sire Danehill Dancer is out of a full-sister to two individual G1 winning juvenile fillies – Listen (Fillies Mile) and Sequoyah (Moyglare Stud Stakes).

The latter is the dam of four time G1 winner, and now leading young sire, Henrythenavigator. A son of Kingmambo, Henrythenavigator won four of Britain’s biggest races, including the 2000 Guineas, and produced two G1 winners in his first crop.

Paradise Beach, whose sire has produced over 140 stakes winners, is a granddaughter of the Irish River mare Brigid. The latter is the third dam of Magician (Galileo) – winner of Saturday’s G1 Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas, and a leading fancy for Saturday’s Investec Derby.

As her dam is by Sadler’s Wells (sire of Magician’s sire), it is safe to say, that Paradise Beach’s second dam is very closely related to the 2013 Irish Guineas hero!

Avontuur, whose stallions Var and Oratorio have both enjoyed superb seasons, could well be sitting on a goldmine following Saturday’s Derby!
