Judpot relative downs Taghrooda
Varsfontein Stud’s resident stallion Judpot is from one of the hottest female lines in the world.
Not only do Judpot’s immediate relatives include the 2014 Group 1 French 2000 Guineas winner Karakontie, but another star from this family emerged at York last week.
Tapestry, who downed the mighty Oaks/King George winning filly Taghrooda to win Thursday’s Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks, is the latest celebrity tracing back directly to mighty mare Miesque.
A daughter of champion sire Galileo, Tapestry is out of former champion 2yo filly Rumplestiltskin (winner of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac). Rumplestiltskin, in turn, is out of Monevassia – a full sister to world leading sire Kingmambo and a half-sister to Judpot himself.
Tapestry’s third dam, Miesque (dam of Kingmambo, Judpot and dual French classic winner East Of The Moon), was one of the greatest racemares of all time. A champion in Britain, France and North America, Miesque’s 12 career victories included 10 at Group/Grade 1 level.
Sire of two Grade 1 winners (Along Came Polly, Forest Indigo) in his first crop, the A P Indy horse Judpot stands for a 2014 stud fee of R45 000.
