Judpot relative Faufiler wins Modesty Handicap

Talented filly Faufiler, an impressive winner of Saturday’s G3 Modesty Handicap, provided yet another boost to the family of Cape sire Judpot.

Faufiler, who was picking up the first graded win of her career, ran on powerfully to win Saturday’s $125 000 by a length and a quarter from Al’s Gal and Secret Someone, stamping herself as a potential candidate for Grade One honours later in the year.

A daughter of Galileo, the Graham Motion trained Faufiler has now won five times and has earned over $350 000 in stakes.

Her dam is 2003 G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Six Perfections –whose dam Yogya is a half sister to the great champion and broodmare Miesque (dam not only of Judpot but of classic winners East Of The Moon and Kingmambo).

Faufiler may now be aimed towards the G1 Beverly D Stakes later this year.

The Varsfontein Stud based Judpot, whose offspring have been well and truly firing all over South Africa this season, is also from the family of talented British 3yo Ibn Malik (by Raven’s Pass). The latter, an impressive winner of the Listed European Free Handicap earlier this year, is a likely runner in Saturday’s G3 bet365 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury. This is also the family of 2016 G1 Investec Oaks runner up and G1 Irish Oaks hopeful Architechture.

Ibn Malik’s second dam is G1 French 1000 Guineas/French Oaks winner East Of The Moon –a half sister to Judpot.

The latter, sire of this season’s filly sensations Final Judgement, Juxtapose and Maleficent, has two juveniles on offer at the CTS August Two-Year-Old Sale in Cape Town:

Lot 32 –bred like G1 winner Forest Indigo, this filly (inbred to Nureyev) hails from the same family as G1 winning 2yo Guiness, as well as one of North America’s all time greats –the undefeated champion and broodmare of the year Personal Ensign

Lot 72 – out of a winning half sister to G3 winner Amur Affair, this filly is from the same family as Judpot’s hugely exciting G2 Golden Slipper winner Final Judgement and the latter’s G1 winning dam Final Claim

Judpot, a former Equus Outstanding Stallion, also has seven 2yos on offer at the National Two Year Old Sale, which include a colt whose stakes placed dam is a half sister to G2 winner and Guineas runner up Silver Flyer (Lot 23), a three parts sister to Judpot’s champion daughter Along Came Polly (Lot 39), a colt out of Equus Champion Night Diva (Lot 86) and a colt out of a stakes winning daughter of champion sire Jet Master (Lot 124).
