Judpot relative favourite to land Racing Post Trophy

Yucatan, a colt from the same family as leading Cape sire Judpot, is favourite to land Saturday’s G1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.

Runner up in the G2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes last time out, Yucatan (by Galileo) was the object of sustained betting support and is currently a well backed even money chance to land Saturday’s Group One contest.

The Aidan O’Brien trained colt, who was beaten just three parts of a length in the Beresford Stakes, is out of former champion racemare and G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Six Perfections (Celtic Swing).
The latter, whose six victories also included the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac and G1 Prix Jacques le Marois, is out of a daughter of Pasadoble (Prove Out) –who is also the granddam of Varsfontein Stud’s highly successful resident sire Judpot.

The latter, an A P Indy half brother to the classic winners East Of The Moon (Private Account) and Kingmambo (Mr Prospector) is out of one of history’s greatest racemares, with Judpot’s dam, Miesque, landing no fewer than 10 G1 races during her career.

Judpot, whose runners last season included G1 SA Fillies Classic winner and Equus nominee Juxtapose, has a leading contender in Three Balloons for Saturday’s Listed Woolavington Handicap while his G2 Gold Circle Golden Slipper winning daughter Final Judgement is one of 34 fillies who have been entered for the G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship on October 29th.
