Varsfontein Stud’s top class sire Judpot is from a truly outstanding family and one that has enjoyed consistent success in 2017.
Judpot’s female line got another significant boost this weekend when Leshlaa won the G2 International France Galop FRBC Anatolia Trophy in Turkey on Saturday. A three-year-old son of Street Cry, Leshlaa was produced wide and late by Jimmy Quinn to land the 2000m race by one and a half lengths -giving trainer Saeed Bin Suroor his third win in this race in the past four years.
Leshlaa is out of the winning Singspiel mare Vine Street –herself a half-sister to G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner Silent Honor and full-sister to G2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner Silkwood.
Leshlaa’s third dam is Massaraat –a full-sister to champion and 10 time G1 winner Miesque (the dam of Judpot).
This is also the family of ill-fated galloper Permian (winner of both the G2 King Edward VII and G2 Betfred Dante Stakes this year) and promising 2yo filly Alpha Centauri. The latter is a likely runner in Sunday’s G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Another talented member of this family is 2016 G1 Investec Oaks runner up Architecture.
Judpot has some promising 3yos to his bow this season including G2 Golden Slipper runner up Let It Flow and Sniper Shot, with the latter having already banked more than R350 000 in prize money.
