Judpot relative makes waves in Japan

A close relative of Varsfontein Stud’s successful sire Judpot made news at the first session of the 2017 JRHA Select Yearling Sale which took place at Northern Horse Park on Monday.

Lot 78

A daughter of champion sire Deep Impact, the filly, a full-sister to G1 Dubai Turf winner Real Steel, was knocked down to DMM.com.co Ltd for ¥160 000 000 –making the filly the top priced female sold on day one of the two day sale.

The session topping filly (catalogued as lot 78) is out of the unraced Storm Cat mare Loves Only Me –a half-sister to champion Rumplestiltskin, and out of a daughter of Judpot’s champion dam, Miesque.

This is also the family of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winners Karakontie and Six Perfections.

Judpot, whose dam Miesque (herself a ten time G1 winner) is also dam of French classic winners Kingmambo and East Of The Moon, has enjoyed another tremendous season in 2016-2017, with his runners including such graded stakes winners as Coral Fever (G3 Jubilee Handicap) and Polyphonic (G2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes).

Legendary sire A P Indy

The son of A P Indy has also enjoyed tremendous success with his 2yos this season, with Judpot’s 14 individual juvenile winners in 2016-2017 including KZN Yearling Sale Million runner up Sniper Shot and G2 Golden Slipper runner up Let It Flow, as well as Sea King, who made it win number two (from just four outings) when successful over 1600m at Scottsville on Sunday.

Judpot will be represented by 16 lots at next month’s National 2YO Sale in Germiston.
