Klawervlei –South Africa’s Champion Breeders of 2014-2015

The Bonnievale based Klawervlei Stud retained their breeders crown for the recently concluded 2014-2015 season.
Klawervlei, who headed the list the previous season, ended the season with their runners having 206 wins to their credit and earned more than R18.222 million in stakes.

The stud finished just under R1 million ahead of runner up Summerhill Stud, who once again finished in the second spot, having had to take second place to Klawervlei the previous season. Highlands Farm finished in third, ahead of Maine Chance Farms (breeders of the first three home in the 2015 Vodacom Durban July) and Wilgerbosdrift.

Klawervlei were responsible for producing seven individual stakes winners during the season, and their horses picked up a total of 12 black type races during the 2014-2015 season.

Among Klawervlei’s top runners were Same Jurisdiction (G1Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes), Seventh Plain (G1 Tsogo Sun Medallion, G1 Durban Golden Horseshoe), Carry On Alice (G1 City Of Pietermaritzburg Fillies Sprint), Redcarpet Captain (G3 Protea Stakes), and the multiple feature race winner Door Of Deception.

Cape studs dominated the 2014-2015 with eight of the top ten spots on the breeders log being filled by Cape based farms.
