Legislate brother a highlight!

Cheveley Stud, the breeders of last year’s South African Horse Of The Year Legislate, are proud to announce they will be taking a eight strong draft to next week’s National Yearling Sale, set to take place at the TBA’s complex in Germiston from April 22nd to 24th.

Cheveley will also be offering two yearlings, both by exceptional young sire Visionaire, as agent and these two fillies both look to be exciting prospects.

While the Ceres based farm’s draft may be small in numbers, it makes up for that in the quality of thoroughbred numbered in the consignment –Cheveley’s draft being made up by yearlings by such stallions as Captain Al, Dynasty, Gimmethegreenlight, Mambo In Seattle and Var.

Lot 92 Gimmethegreenlight – Champers

First of the draft on sale promises to be one of the sale’s highlights – and with good reason! Lot 92 is a colt by promising young sire and former G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate hero Gimmethegreenlight. This handsome bay colt is a half brother to none other than Legislate, South Africa’s Horse Of The Year last season and winner of the 2014 G1 Vodacom Durban July and four other graded features. An exceptional sire prospect himself, Legislate has to date amassed more than R4.7 million in stakes.

Next up is lot 189, an unnamed daughter of former G1 Travers Stakes second and exciting young sire Mambo In Seattle. This well bred miss is a nicely bred half sister to four winners, amongst them Listed Somerset 1200 winner Hope And Fortune, and she hails from a high class North American female line.

The first of the two Dynasty sired lots in the Cheveley draft is lot 192, a beautifully bred half brother to G1 Champions Cup hero and conqueror of legendary Pocket Power, Ivory Trail. As a son of an outstanding sire in Dynasty, and from the mighty Best In Show family, this colt could be a hugely valuable future stud prospect.

Lot 294 is a filly with claims to being one of the best bred yearling fillies in South Africa. A daughter of six times champion sire of 2yos and exceptional filly sire in Captain Al, she is out one of Cheveley’s finest broodmares in Mystic Spring. This beautifully bred filly, a sister in blood to champion All Is Secret as well as high class sprinter Victorian Secret, is a half sister to five stakes winners including ill-fated champion and multiple G1 winner Rabiya.

Gimmethegreenlight, a son of world leading sire More Than Ready, is also responsible for lot 308, a well bred colt. His dam, by champion sire Danehill Dancer, is out of G1 mare Strelitzia, an own sister to high class G1 winner Fort Defiance and from the superb Lily family, responsible for such stellar performers as Red Badge, Saddlewood and Vega.

Another well bred youngster in the Cheveley Stud is lot 311, a bay colt by leading sire Var, whose offspring includes the legendary champion Variety Club and champions Val de Ra and Via Africa. He is a out of a three time winning half sister to G2 winner Roman Charger, and his second dam is a G2 winning half sister to champion and multiple G1 winner Vesta.

The same family is also responsible for lot 391, a bay son of leading sire Dynasty. This is a half brother to Winter Oaks heroine Rush For John, and from the same family as the above mentioned Vesta.

Cheveley is also acting as agent for lots 370 and 423, both of whom being by the exciting young G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner Visionaire. First of the two is lot 370, a filly whose dam is a half sister to G2 winning millionaire Thunder Key.
This well bred filly, already named Secret Vision, is out of a daughter of former champion Special Key, and is certainly bred to get along.

Next of the Visionaires from the Cheveley draft is lot 423, a bay filly named Royal Vision. She hails from one of the best families in the South African stud book, with her relatives including such champions as Harry Hotspur, Rotterdam and top class filly Kiss Of Peace.
