Lot 156 -a colt with a stallion’s pedigree

Klawervlei Stud are proud to offer lot 156 at Friday’s Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale.
Without question one of the best bred yearlings on offer, this beautifully bred colt is a son of former champion South African sire Silvano –whose 16 individual Grade One winners include no fewer than three July winners (Bold Silvano, Heavy Metal and Power King)!

Silvano is also an emerging sire of sires, with his champion son Bold Silvano currently ranking as one of South Africa’s leading first crop sires.
Another champion son of Silvano, the Klawervlei bred international G1 star Vercingetorix, proved hugely popular in his first season at stud last year when he covered over 120 mares!

Currently South Africa’s second leading sire by stakes for 2015-2016, Silvano’s six black type winners this season include G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas winner Silver Mountain, the hugely exciting colt Black Arthur, and G3 Protea Stakes winner Janoobi.

The colt on sale comes from a truly exceptional female line. He is a half brother to four winners, including G1 Paddock Stakes/G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Thunder Dance and high class feature race contender Shadow Ofhis Smile.

Captain Al

Captain Al

He is out of the top class racemare Shadow Dancing, who won both the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas and G1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes.
As remarkable a racemare and producer as Shadow Dancing has been, her half brother, Captain Al, has reached even greater heights.
Captain Al, a brilliant sprinter miler, was one of the best of his generation and with his 8 wins (from 1000-1600m) including the G1 Cape Guineas, and G2 Merchants.

Retired to Klawervlei Stud, Captain Al has gone on to become one of South Africa’s elite stallions, and headed the General Sires List last season. The remarkable son of Al Mufti has also seven 2yo sires titles to his credit, and his 60 plus stakes winners include a host of G1 winners, including champions All Is Secret, Captain Of All and Captain’s Lover, as well as the outstanding performers Captain America, Carry On Katie and J&B Met winner Hill Fifty Four.

Captain Al, also an exceptional young broodmare sire, is also the sire of this season’s unbeaten 2yo star Cloth Of Cloud, who looks a G1 winner in the making.

Second dam is none other than former Broodmare Of The Year Off To War, whose seven winners also include G2 Green Point Stakes hero Mustang Manny.

Fort Wood, the sire of Shadow Dancing, is already damsire of a promising young sire in former Breeders’ Cup hero Pluck –and could well feature in similar role with the colt on sale. Currently South Africa’s Leading Broodmare Sire this season, Fort Wood is damsire of this season’s G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas winner Noah From Goa as well as the likes of G1 winners Capetown Noir, Captain America, Cherry On The Top, Contador, Royal Fantasy and Forest Indigo.
This magnificent specimen, who ticks all the right boxes, is already looking a potential stallion prospect with early syndication a highly probable option. For further details please contact Grant Knowles at the sales ground on 0828829774.
