Moutonshoek’s blue blooded young sire Mambo In Seattle is lacking nothing for pedigree.
The son of Kingmambo looks to have another high class relative in the form of the North American based filly Mystery Strike.
The latter made it two wins from as many outings when she bolted up to win an allowance race over 1200m at Golden Gate. The 3yo filly had previously won first out by two and three quarter lengths and she looks well above average.
Mystery Strike, who was a $500 000 yearling buy, is a daughter of champion sire Smart Strike and the Belong To Me mare Mystery Trip.
The latter, who has produced four winners from as many runners to date including the stakes performers Jaconda and Gallant Fields, is out of North America’s Broodmare Of The Year in 1992, Weekend Surprise. Among the latter’s top performers are the US classic winners Summer Squall (Preakness Stakes), and A P Indy (Belmont Stakes), and the latter subsequently went on to head the US General Sires List on two occasions and is widely regarded as one of the most influential stallions to have stood in North America over the past few decades.
Weekend Surprise is also the dam of successful, but ill-fated, sire Tiger Ridge and Honor Grades, with the latter siring Breeders Cup Distaff heroine Adoration.
Her daughter Weekend In Seattle (a full sister to A P Indy) is herself the dam of Mambo In Seattle, a stakes winner of four and just touched off in the 2008 G1 Travers Stakes.
Mambo In Seattle, who has been represented by a flood of recent winners including debut heroine Ngong Hills, has made a top class start to his stud career, with his first crop including the G1 winning millionaire Same Jurisdiction.
