Marchfield relative lands Breeders Futurity

Moutonshoek’s well related sire Marchfield hails from the same family as one of North America’s most exciting two-year-old colts.
Classic Empire, who made it three wins from just four outings when romping to victory in Saturday’s G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland, is a direct descendant of the great mare Alablue –who is also ancestress of Marchfield.

A son of Pioneerof The Nile (Empire Maker), Classic Empire won Saturday’s $500 000 race by an impressive three lengths from Lookin at Lee and Wild Shot.
Trained by Mark Casse, the colt was a $475 000 buy from last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Classic Empire, who had previously won the G3 Bashford Manor Stakes, has now banked over $380 000 in prize money and Saturday’s G1 win guaranteed him a berth in the upcoming Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

Dual Canadian champion, and millionaire, Marchfield, will be represented by his first South African runners this season.
The champion son of sire legend A P Indy has four first-local crop members on offer at Saturday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa:
