Rosedene’s red hot sire Greys Inn was at again on Tuesday when the former Equus Champion had a pair of winners at the Vaal’s mid-week meeting.
First of the Greys Inn sired winners was Gypsy’s Inn, who got off the mark with a comprehensive two and a quarter length success over 1400m.
His paternal half brother Secunde’s Victor followed up in the very next race, when scoring a cosy one and a quarter length win over 2400m.
Their sire Greys Inn has been in devastating form lately, with his offspring landing major races in both South Africa and Dubai.
The 2004 Vodacom Durban July winner’s top local performer this season thus far has been by the brilliant Legal Eagle, winner of the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and runner up in last Saturday’s G1 J&B Met.
The Avontuur bred Legal Eagle, who was also victorious in the 2015 G1 SA Derby, has now won five of 10 outings and earned more than R2.8 million. He looks destined for more Grade One glory before too much longer.
Greys Inn’s other star performer in 2016 has been Forries Waltz, with the Wicklow Stud bred colt an impressive winner in both his Dubai outings this year thus far.
The colt, who has been nominated to the $10 000 000 Dubai World Cup, picked up the second black type win of his career last time out when defeating former G1 Investec Cape Derby winner Ertijaal in the G2 Rashidiya.
Forries Waltz had previously won the Listed Gatecrasher Stakes as a 2yo.
Greys Inn, whose half sister Good Judgement is the dam of recent G1 J&B Met winner Smart Call, has one lot on sale at the upcoming Val De Vie Yearling Sale –a filly whose winning dam is a half sister to Derby winner Central Pacific.
