Mauritzfontein Stud’s promising young sire Ideal World was back in the news this week, after the son of Kingmambo had a mid-week double at Greyville on Wednesday.

First of the Ideal World progeny to score was Irish Pride, who picked up the third win of his career when justifying favouritism in a handicap over 1400m.
Bred by Mauritzfontein, Irish Pride (a R240 000 purchase from the 2014 Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale), is out of the dual winning Fort Wood mare Celtic Cross, and is from the same family as current Vodacom Durban July hope Marinaresco.

Ideal World’s second winner on Wednesday came in the form of Smart World, who romped home in the last race to break his maiden by three and a quarter lengths. Bred by Dino and Lee Scribante, Smart World clearly relished the step up to 2000m in Wednesday’s race and he looks capable of winning again soon.
