More classic success for in-form Deputy

Lammerskraal’s red hot sire Go Deputy has been enjoying a remarkable run of success this season, with his progeny include 3yo sensation, and Triple Crown hope, Abashiri.
However, the G1 SA Classic/G2 Gauteng Guineas winning Abashiri is not the only classic winner to represent the 2006 G1 Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap winner this season.

Go Deputy is also the sire of the brilliant Kenyan based filly Western Ballad (bred by Lammerskraal) who recently added to her seven length romp in the Kenyan Guineas with a stunning ten length romp in the Kenyan Derby. Remarkably, runner up Chesney, is also by Go Deputy!

The great run of the son of Deputy Minister also continued in South Africa this weekend –with his only two runners on Friday, Arezzo and Current Event, winning their respective races.

G3 Cape Summer Stayers Handicap hero Current Event was the first to oblige, with the now Jacques Strydom trained gelding romping to home to win a conditions plate by a hard held five and a half lengths. The talented stayer has now won or placed in no fewer than 19 races, and has earnings of over R630 000 to his credit –and is likely to add still further to this substantial total.

Former Listed Settlers Trophy hero Arezzo picked up his fourth career victory when he dug down deeply to win a MR 92 handicap for former champion trainer Justin Snaith and jockey S’Manga Khumalo.

Go Deputy also has two sons, Royal Badge and Icy Trail, entered in Saturday’s G3 Tekkie Town Winter Guineas at Kenilworth.

Millionaire Go Deputy, whose relatives include the great US sire Fappiano (found in the pedigrees of all of American Pharoah, Tapit and War Front), has just two lots on offer at next week’s National Yearling Sale, and they are a must see for all serious buyers!

Lot 106 is a classically bred colt, whose 4 winning siblings include the stakes winning filly Grandalea. His dam, by champion sire Western Winter out of Fillies Guineas heroine Dance Every Dance, is a full sister to G1 sprinter Centaur and a three parts sister to Equus Champion, triple G1 winner and exciting new KZN sire Capetown Noir. This colt’s first three dams are by champion sires Western Winter, Northern Guest and Jungle Cove.

Lot 178 is another blue blooded colt. His dam is a winning full sister to ill-fated G2 winning 2yo Buran and G1 filly Ice Belle, while his second dam is the top class Majorca Stakes winner Trojan Belle (also dam of Go Deputy’s talented runner Gogetthesheriff, who recently picked up his 10th career win) and his third dam, G1 winner Helenita, is also dam of ill-fated G1 Cape Guineas winner Little Ballerina.
