Drakenstein Stud’s reigning champion sire Trippi has enjoyed plenty of success as a sire of top class performers over the years.
From international G1 winner R Heat Lightning, to five time G1 winner Inara, Trippi and his runners are rarely out of the headlines.
The son of End Sweep is also starting to stamp himself as a very successful broodmare sire and it was in this role that Trippi came to the fore once again on Saturday.
Two-year-old filly Silver Diva (Circular Quay) picked up the first black type win of her fledgling career when victorious in Saturday’s $75 000 Our Dear Peggy Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Silver Diva was settled early and fought on bravely under jockey Tyler Gaffalione to score a half length win over Devilish Romance, with favourite Bahama Halo a well beaten third.
She is the latest high class 2yo stakes winner to have been produced by a daughter of Trippi –who is also maternal broodmare sire of brilliant G3 Iroqouis Stakes winner, and likely Breeders’ Cup contender, Not This Time, and the latter’s Breeders’ Cup winning half brother Liam’s Map, among others.
Currently third on the general sires list, Trippi has a single lot on sale at the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa:
Lot 140 –this regally bred filly (whose own sister ran second on just her second racecourse outing) is out of former G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Little Miss Magic, herself a daughter of seven times champion sire Jet Master, and this is the outstanding Miss Lindeman family responsible for star fillies Bilateral, State Treasure and champion Tara’s Touch
