More joy for Judpot!

Varsfontein Stud’s hugely successful resident sire Judpot was once again in the news this weekend.
This time it was his talented 2yo daughter Final Judgement who stole the show when prevailing in a narrow finish to Saturday’s G2 Gold Circle Golden Slipper on Vodacom Durban July day.

One of two Judpot fillies in the Golden Slipper (the other being recent Listed Devon Air Stakes winner Maleficent), Final Judgement showed tremendous guts to hold off a late challenge from Dawn Calling and win by a neck.

Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Final Judgement was a R500 000 buy from last year’s Val De Vie Yearling Sale, where she was the top priced filly sold.

Inbred to the great sire Nureyev, Final Judgement has now won or placed in five of her six starts to date and she may race next in the G1 Thekwini Stakes.

A son of the great sire A P Indy, Judpot is a half brother to French classic winners East Of The Moon and Kingmambo. The latter, now deceased, was also an exceptional sire with his top performers including such classic winners asBluemamba, Divine Proportions, Henrythenavigator, King’s Best, King Kamehameha, Light Shift, Rule Of Law, Russian Rhythm, Virginia Waters and US champion Lemon Drop Kid.
