Velvet Revolution, a half brother to The Alchemy’s promising young sire Gitano Hernando, got off the mark at Windsor on Monday afternoon.
A son of Pivotal, Velvet Revolution was held up for a run in Monday’s 2200m handicap before running on strongly to claim victory in the handicap for trainer Marco Botti (who also conditioned Gitano Hernando) and jockey Martin Harley.
Velvet Revolution is the eighth winner produced by G3 Noble Damsel Handicap heroine Gino’s Spirits (a daughter of Sadler’s Wells’ three parts brother Perugino). She is also responsible for the brilliant Gitano Hernando, as well as the very useful Battersea –a winner at the 2016 Dubai Carnival.
Gitano Hernando was himself a top class racehorse, whose seven victories netted his connections over £1.3 million in prize money.
The flashy chestnut won or placed in six pattern races, and scored a pair of top flight victories when successful in the 2011 G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup and 2009 G1 Goodwood Stakes.
Gitano Hernando, whose first crop includes the very promising stakes filly Whose That Girl, has two lots on sale at Saturday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale:
Lot 9 – this well bred colt is out of G3 Diana Stakes winner Promises To Keep (by emerging broodmare sire Windrush) –a half sister to the talented G2 performer Speed Rocket and this is the famed Drohsky family.
Lot 55 – a half sister to 3 winners, this filly is out of a four time winning three parts sister to 10 time G3 winning sprinter Sharp Design, and her second dam is seven G3 winning sprinter Sharp Ledge. The family of G1 Majorca Stakes winner Sarabande and Selangor Cup winner De Kock
