Heartland, who is an own brother to popular young sire Jackson picked up the fifth win of his career when waltzing home at Scottsville on Wednesday afternoon.
The talented four-year-old, whose previous wins included both the G3 Byerley Turk and Listed Cape Premier Sales Jet Master Stakes, has now won or placed in nine of just 14 outings and the Justin Snaith trained gelding, who had made a winning debut when scoring by nearly ten lengths first time out, does not finished yet.
Heartland, one of two winners on the card for his outstanding sire Dynasty, was a R2 200 000 buy from the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
He is one of 3 stakes winners produced by the excellent Cozzene sired mare Moonlit Prairie, with the others being Highlands’ young sire Jackson (by Dynasty), as well as G3 Lebelo Sprint hero Jade Bay (by Jallad).
Moonlit Prairie, who shares her sire with Fearless Revival (dam of the great sire Pivotal), traces back in female line to the great mare No Class, whose other notable descendants include dual US champion sire Smart Strike and the ill-fated, but highly successful, South African sires Sail From Seattle and Strike Smartly.
Jackson, who was the top lot sold at the 2010 National 2YO Sale, was an exceptional racehorse whose six wins included the G1 Investec Cape Derby (over champion Variety Club), G1 Champions Cup and G1 Daily News 2000.
He won or placed in 10 feature races, and accounted for such G1 winners/champions as Variety Club, Bravura, Master Plan, Martial Eagle, Pomodoro, Potala Palace, Princess Victoria, Royal Bencher, Slumdogmillionaire, and What A Winter.
The handsome stallion will be represented by his first yearlings in 2017.
