More success for Lateral

More success for Lateral
Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young sire Lateral was represented by his sixth first crop winner on Saturday.
His son Latus Blitz won his first race, a maiden juvenile plate over 1450m, with another of Lateral’s progeny, Unparalleled, making a smart debut back in third.

Latus Blitz, who was bred by his owner Mr Theron, is out of the Ransom O’War mare, Inside Blitz.

Lateral is South Africa’s leading first crop sire at the time of writing, and is currently ninth on the leading 2yo sires log, ahead of such stallions as More Than Ready, Western Winter,  and Rock Of Gibraltar.

Lateral, a champion at two and three, has been represented by 11 juveniles to have won or placed in the money to date.

The Group One winning son of Singspiel was popular at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sales, where his yearlings fetched up to R300 000, while Lateral’s sole lot at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale was knocked down for R450 000.
