More success for red hot Oratorio
Avontuur’s exciting stallion Oratorio has enjoyed a fine spell of success with his recent runners this weekend and the son of Danehill’s good run continued over the weekend, with his winners including an impressive North American debut win by his top class son Biz The Nurse.
A former G1 winner in Italy, Biz The Nurse was making his first racetrack appearance since last October, but made an eye catching winning debut for new trainer Tom Albertrani at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.
Despite being off since October, Biz The Nurse powered clear to register a comprehensive one and three quarter length win in an allowance optional claiming race and he looks sure to go one to bigger things this year. The five year old entire took his tally of wins to six and pushed his earnings to over $900 000 with this stylish US debut performance. Biz The Nurse, who had made history when becoming the first 3yo in nearly 30 years to land the G1 Gran Premio Di Milano two years ago, had earlier won five of his first six outings with his victories including a score in the classic G2 Derby Italiano. Placed in four G1 races to date, it should not be long before Biz The Nurse cracks the US $1 million barrier.
His sire Oratorio has been represented by over 70 stakes horses to date, with this tally including six individual G1 winners amongst them. His tally of stakes winners including the very talented Australian performer Mourinho- winner of the recent G2 Crown Golden Ale Peter Young Stakes. The latter is also on the verge of breaking through the AUS$1 million barrier, having already amassed earnings of over $960 000. Mourinho is likely to have his next start in the G1 Australian Cup at Randwick next Saturday.
A triple G1 winner and multiple European champion, Oratorio has covered some exceptional mares in his first two seasons in South Africa and his success looks set to continue.
