Mauritzfontein Stud’s exciting young sire Ideal World (whose daughter Smart Call looks on track for a tilt at the 2016 G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly& Mare Turf) was represented by yet another black type winner when his daughter Zante landed Saturday’s Listed Queen Palm Stakes at Greyville.
Zante, who had previously finished fourth to Smart Call in the G1 Woolavington 2000, was given a superb front running ride by Anton Marcus. The pair simply cruised in to post an effortless six length win in the R150 000 contest, with Zante picking her up her first black type win in the process.
Bred by Nigel Page, Zante (who is out of the Western Winter mare Temperate Lady) has now won five times and has banked R388 725 in prize money.
The talented four-year-old is one of eight stakes horses produced in Ideal World’s first crop, which includes not only G1 J&B Met winner Smart Call, but also classic winner Fig Jam, Oaks placed Patchit Up Baby, and the stakes winner Peep Show.
Ideal World’s second crop (now three-year-olds) include Derby winner Cape Speed and Listed Syringa Handicap heroine Persian Rug, while his 2yos include the promising Ideal Lady (an own sister to Zante).
A son of Kingmambo, Ideal World has representatives on both the CTS August Two-Year-Old Sale and National Two Year Old Sale.
Ideal World’s two lots on offer at the CTS sale include a filly (inbred to Danehill) from the family of outstanding US sire Seeking The Gold and his G1 winning half brother Fast Play (Lot 58), and a colt whose winning National Assembly sired dam is a half sister to ill-fated G1 filly Kimberlite and hails from the prolific Miss Lindeman family (Lot 69).
The stakes winning Ideal World (whose dam was a Breeders’ Cup winning champion) has seven on offer at the National Two Year Old –and they include a colt whose three time winning dam is a daughter of Var and champion Monyela (Lot 179), a colt out of an own sister to G2 Gerald Rosenberg winner Prestic (Lot 188) and a colt (from the family of Danehill, Machiavellian and Northern Dancer) whose dam is an own sister to G3 winner Queen’s Bay (Lot 236).
