New stakes winner for Philanthropist

Drakenstein Stud’s red hot resident sire Philanthropist enjoyed another hugely successful weekend. The powerful son of Kris S was represented by yet another eye catching South African first crop winner, while his daughter Hot Kiss gave her remarkable sire yet another stakes winner when she landed Sunday’s Trillium Stakes at Woodbine.

It was a fifth consecutive win for the talented Hot Kiss, who was making her stakes debut.

Now a winner of six of her 12 outings, the four-year-old Hot Kiss was too strong for her six rivals and posted a 1.75 length victory, with her beaten rivals including G3 winner Don’t Leave Me (4th) and classic heroine Academic (5th).

Philanthropist also had an eye catching winner at Greyville on Friday evening when his 2yo daughter She’s A Giver became the latest juvenile by Philanthropist to catch the eye. Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, She’s A Giver (a R550 000 buy from last year’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale), pulled clear to win a juvenile plate over 1200m by 1.25 lengths.

This blue blooded filly, who had finished second on her only other racetrack outing, looks well above average and holds an entry in the G2 Golden Slipper on Vodacom Durban July day.

Philanthropist has now been represented by five first crop winners thus far, with his first SA crop include the stakes performer Kenny Trix, debut winners Good To Give and Rockefeller, and promising fillies Flash Fire and Sail. The latter pair, like She’s  A Giver, have both been entered in the G2 Golden Slipper next month.

The sire, whose offspring have fetched up to R1 100 000 in 2016, has four well related lots on offer at the upcoming Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale –

Lot 17 –a half brother to 4 winners, this colt has an intriguing family –as he traces back in female line to the great mare Grey Flight (dam of nine stakes winners), who is also the fourth dam of Philanthropist. Thus this colt is inbred to Grey Flight, (he is also inbred to Derby winner Roberto) with his close relatives including outstanding sprinter Caller One and Canadian champ Cozzene’s Prince

Lot 82 –this colt (also inbred to Grey Flight through damsire National Assembly), is out of a winning half sister to G3 sprinter Tiger Territory (and his dam is closely related to the dam of Graded winners Sweet Sanetta and Franny, as well as promising Philanthropist 2yo Good To Give) and second dam is an own sister to the dam of G2 winner Philippa Johnson.

Lot 242 – out of a winning Trippi half sister to a stakes horse, this filly’s second dam is a stakes placed daughter of the great sire Danehill and this is the family of dual G1 winner Pride Of Dubai, French Oaks winner Rafha, this season’s promising SW 2yo Cuff, and top sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac (by Danehill)

Lot 280 –this colt, inbred to Derby winner and outstanding sire Roberto, is out of a winning Al Mufti half sister to 2 stakes horses and hails from the family of champion filly Certify, Arc winner Suave Dancer and leading sires Habitat and Northfields
