Nine length victory for Pathfork’s half brother

Highlands Farm’s young stallion Pathfork is a young sire with truly impeccable credentials.
An Irish Champion and G1 winner at two, Pathfork is one of 17 G1 winners for US Champion sire Distorted Humor (by former US Champion Two-Year-Old Forty Niner).

From a truly magnificent female line, Pathfork’s already power packed pedigree received yet another boost when his half brother scored the first win of his career on Tuesday afternoon. The A P Indy colt Tacticus pulverized his six opponents to break his maiden by nine easy lengths over 2400m at Southwell.
The blue blooded Tacticus was making just his second start in 2015 for trainer Lady Jane Cecil and he can hardly have been more impressive.

He and Pathfork are out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Visions Of Clarity, who is also the second of promising French 3yo Nucifera, a More Than Ready colt who won three of his five outings last year and finished second in the G3 Prix La Rochette.

Visions Of Clarity is also a half sister to Gr1 Breeders Cup winner and successful sire Spinning World, whose G1 winning offspring include New Zealand Champion Sire Thorn Park.

This is also the family of triple Australian Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, 2000 Guineas winner and successful sire El Gran Senor, Champion US Sprinter Aldebaran (himself sire of US Champion Main Sequence), last year’s Eclipse Champion Older Female Close Hatches and former South African Champion Sire and Broodmare Sire Northern Guest.

Pathfork, whose first yearlings have already fetched up to R700 000, is well represented on all three of the sales coming up in the next few weeks. His March Yearling Sale draft of eight, includes a filly bred on similar lines to Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another (Lot 25), and a colt out of G2 SA Oaks runner up Star Safari (Lot 62).

The former G1 National Stakes winner has 10 lots on offer at April’s National Yearling Sale, including a half sister to G3 Godolphin Barb hero Twitter (Lot 52), a half brother to G2 hero Cask (Lot 72), and a half sister to ill-fated champion sprinter Cataloochee (Lot 247).

His five lots on offer at the Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale includes a colt out of a half sister to US G1 winner Magnificent Song (Lot 28) and a half brother to current smart sprinter Tiger Territory (Lot 83).
