Leading sire Oratorio proved popular on day one of the 2015 Tattersalls’ December Mare Sale.
His talented daughter Clenor was knocked down for 210,000 guineas –making her the session’s joint eighth top priced lot.
Consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment at Tattersalls, Clenor was a high class performer, who was good enough to take her place in the line up for the 2013 G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita.
While she failed to make the frame in that prestigious race, Clenor was smart enough to win both the Oak Tree Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes and Surfer Girl Stakes and she also ran third in the G3 Balanchine Stakes.
The four-year-old, who sold in foal to Invincible Spirit’s champion son Kingman, was snapped up by Martin Wainwright’s Highbank Stud. Interestingly, Clenor was the first mare to sell in foal to former Cartier Champion Kingman, a close relation of champion sprinter and outstanding sire Oasis Dream.
Her champion sire Oratorio has enjoyed another excellent year, with his major stakes winners including G1 Underwood Stakes hero Mourinho. Another son of the sire, former Horse Of The Year Military Attack, looks set to contest the G1 Longines Hong Kong Cup in December following his smart last out win in the G2 Longines Jockey Club Cup.
The sire of 45 stakes winners (and counting!), Oratorio will have his first South African born yearlings on sale at next month’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
