Avontuur’s world class young sire Oratorio has made a sensational start to his stud career in South Africa.
Danehill’s triple G1 winning son, whose 40 plus international stakes winners include seven Grade/Group 1 winners, has really impressed with his first South African yearlings this year.
Oratorio, whose runners include over 70 black type performers, had a filly fetch R1.1 million at January’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, while his yearlings grossed over R3.075 million at this year’s National Yearling Sale.
Another colt by Oratorio topped the March Yearling Sale, where the Sorrento Stud consigned colt was knocked down for R650 000.
However, it was at the 2016 Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale, that Oratorio well and truly stole the show. A pair of Oratorio colts made R3.2 million apiece, to jointly top that sale, and Oratorio ended the Select Sale as the session’s second leading sire –with his offspring averaging a whopping R837 500!
This is a superb return on the R80 000 that Oratorio stood for in his first South African season!
Boland Stud are proud to offer a daughter of this former European Champion, and dual Champion Italian sire, at the 2016 Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale, which takes place next Thursday and Friday.
This filly, catalogued as lot 198, is certainly bred to be anything. A half sister to a winner, she is out of a winning daughter of seven time champion sire Jet Master and G2 SA Oaks winner Royal Prophecy. The latter is a full sister to another SA Oaks winner (Noble Destiny), as well as to the dam of G1 Matriarch Stakes and dual SA G1 winner Gypsy’s Warning, talented G2 Camellia Stakes winning Surabi as well as this season’s Listed Drum Star Handicap hero Romany Prince.
