Leading sire Oratorio, sire of recent G1 Underwood Stakes hero Mourinho, has a number of high class fillies and mares to his credit.
The list includes G1 winner Temida, champion 2YO Banchee, and dual Italian classic winner Cherry Collect.
The latter, a remarkably consistent filly, won or placed in all ten of her career outings with her top performances including wins in the G2 Oaks D’Italia (Italian Oaks) and G3 Premio Elena Regina (Italian 1000 Guineas). Cherry Collect also finished second, beaten a length, in the G1 Premio Lydio Tesio.
Another high class female sired by the triple G1 winning Oratorio is Clenor, who took part in the 2013 G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. A really smart 2yo in her own right, the Oratorio daughter won the Oak Tree Juvenile Stakes and Surfer Girl Stakes during her career, and also ran third in the G3 Balanchine Stakes at the Curragh.
Clenor, who won or placed in four stakes races, has been entered in the Tattersalls December Mare Sale where she looks sure to find favour with discerning buyers.
Interestingly enough, the Oratorio daughter was among a star studded group of mares covered by Cartier Champion and Horse Of The Year Kingman during his first season at stud. Only once defeated, the son of Invincible Spirit won all of the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas, G1 Sussex Stakes and G1 St James’s Palace Stakes, to name but a few, in 2014.
Clenor has been catalogued as lot 1719 in December’s Sale.
In total, Oratorio has eight daughters catalogued for the Mare Sale, including the beautifully bred Laurelei (a winning half sister to champion Cape Blanco) in foal to Galileo’s multiple G1 winning son Nathaniel (Lot 2007), and Listed Bosra Sham Stakes heroine Cape Factor, who sells as a horse in training. Cape Factor, catalogued as lot 1738, hails from the family of G1 winners Serious Attitude (Cheveley Park Stakes) and Mount Abu (Prix de La Foret).
