Time Test, a close relative of Klawervlei’s exciting young sire Twice Over, is currently a warm favourite to win the G1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on 2nd July.
Time Test, who is as short as 7/4 in places, will be bidding to join a list of some of history’s all time greats when he lines up in the 2007m contest Saturday week.
The Eclipse, won by Twice Over himself back in 2010, was first run in and has been won by such outstanding champions as Fairway, Ballymoss, Mill Reef, Sadler’s Wells, Dancing Brave, Halling, Giant’s Causeway, and Sea The Stars, to name a few.
Time Test, who is out of G1 winner Passage Of Time (whose dam is a half sister to the dam of Twice Over), was an impressive winner of the G3 Betvictor Brigadier Gerard Stakes (over the same course and distance as the Eclipse) last time out. It was a third group win for the colt, who also holds entries in the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, G1 Qatar Sussex Stakes and G1 QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes.
His close relative Twice Over was an outstanding racehorse, whose 12 career wins included four at Group One level. Apart from the Eclipse, Twice Over (a dual official champion) also won the G1 Champion Stakes (twice) as well as the 2011 G1 Juddmonte International Stakes.
Twice Over’s first yearlings have been well received this year, with his first crop fetching up to R1 000 000.
