A close relative of Highlands Farm’s popular young sire Pathfork made headlines on the third day of Tattersalls’ Foal Sale on Thursday.
From the first crop of Monsun’s dual G1 winning son Maxios, a Newsells Park Stud consigned filly out of the Irish River mare Remote Romance was knocked down for 180,000 guineas.
This makes the Anthony Stroud purchased miss the top priced female sold at the sale thus far and second top lot overall.
Remote Romance, dam of the filly, is the dam of dual G1 winner and sire Saddex and is herself a daughter of Northfields’ G1 Phoenix Stakes winning daughter Aviance. The latter, a blue hen mare of note, is the dam or ancestress of no fewer than six G1 winners. Among the top horses produced by Aviance are G1 Hollywood Derby winner Denon and outstanding filly Chimes Of Freedom.
The latter, who won both the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and G1 Coronation Stakes for the late Henry Cecil, is in turn the dam of US Champion Sprinter Aldebaran (sire of the now retired US Turf Champion Main Sequence), and G1 Atto Mile winner and proven G1 sire Good Journey.
Aviance is also the third dam of former Irish Champion and G1 National Stakes winner Pathfork, a son of Distorted Humor whose first crop have sold so well in South Africa in 2015. Pathfork’s first crop are set to race this season.
