Pathfork shines at Klawervlei Farm Sale

Progeny of Highlands Farm’s popular young sire Pathfork dominated proceedings at Sunday’s Klawervlei Farm Sale.
The former Irish Champion 2YO Colt was responsible for the sales topper – a Klawervlei Stud consigned colt who was knocked down to Goodhope Racing for R525 000.
This made the Pathfork colt, catalogued as lot 121, the top priced lot yet sold at a Farm Sale.

Out of the Wolfhound mare Werewolf, the sales topping colt had previously been sold for R170 000 at this year’s National Yearling Sale.

Pathfork, winner of the G1 National Stakes back in 2010, was also responsible for lot 80 – an unnamed filly who was knocked down to Snaith Racing for R400 000. Consigned by Klawervlei, this filly is out of the winning Fort Wood mare Poppy Law, a half sister to former G3 Cape Of Hope Nursery winner The West Is Wide.

Pathfork’s first yearlings have been in great demand in 2015 thus far. Yearlings sired by him fetched up to R700 000 at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale, where Pathfork ended the sale with his three yearlings averaging an impressive R491 667.

A son of former US Champion Sire Distorted Humor (responsible for no fewer than 17 G1 winners), Pathfork hails from an outstanding female line which has produced such top class sires as El Gran Senor, Northern Guest and multiple champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice.

He has six lots on offer at next month’s Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale –

Lot 15 – a half sister to impressive winning 2yo A Time To Dream, this well bred filly is out of a daughter of the great sire and broodmare sire Giant’s Causeway. The family of G1 VRC Oaks winner Richfield Lady.
Lot 56 – closely inbred to the legendary Sadler’s Wells, this filly, a half sister to 3 winners, hails from the same family as champion sprinter The Barbican.
Lot 124 –out of a half sister to high class G1 filly Six Blue Notes, this well related filly is from the same family as champion Kochka and this season’s feature race winning filly Cat And The Moon.
Lot 209 – out of a three time winning half sister to this season’s G1 2yo Mystical Twilight, this well bred colt’s second dam is none other than former G1 Empress Club Stakes heroine Fading Light.

Lot 225 – from one of the best families in the stud book, this colt, a half brother to three winners, is from the family as the outstanding Busanda and her Horse Of The Year son Buckpasser, as well as brilliant 2yo Officer and successful local sire Complete Warrior.
